School Diaries(S01E05)

July,2011: The rehearsal carried on as usual.Alan,Shiyas,Vian,Abhiruth,Shervin,Karthik,Ronald,Athul and me did our respective roles perfectly.The next scene to be practiced was the scene we all were eagerly waiting for,the scene were Stheno will slap Neeraj.How the slapping scene got into my script is a long story.Seven days back,when I was still writing the script,Alan came to me and said,"Stheno will act in the o-a-p,only if she gets a chance to hit Neeraj.I asked,"Who told you that?"
"Stheno herself told me that unless she hits him,she won't act."
"Is that her demand?"
"Maybe.You better go with Stheno or it's no girls to act"
"As if I told I needed girls to act".
I asked some of my friends whether Stheno should slap Neeraj.And they said,"Go for it.Not every girl gets a chance to slap a boy in front of the teachers and students".
                          Today we are going to rehearse that slapping scene.Stheno was ready to slap Neeraj.I went and encouraged him("Don't feel shy,it's just a slap").There were something like twenty spectators in that room(They were simply watching the rehearsal) but only a few of us knew what was going to happen.That is when a girl named Medea shouted,"Hey Stheno,you will never get a chance like this.Try to utilize it".I thought,"Uh!Oh!That doesn't sound good".Stheno slapped Neeraj.I don't know whether it was a slap or 'Chris-Gayle-on-the-crease-type-thing' because when I looked at Neeraj,he was lying on the floor and not 'just lying on the floor'.He had a swollen red cheek(his left one);he was curled up in the foetal position;his tongue was out;actual tears were flowing out of his eyes.I was staring at him like this [:-|].I don't know whether I should laugh at this funny scene(a puny girl hit him and he fell down) or whether I should be sympathetic(poor guy is crying).The question I asked myself was: Why was Stheno so keen on hitting Neeraj? If this is what she did to him during rehearsal,what would she do to him on-stage?

School Diaries (S01E04)

July,2011: After 'Airport' Mr.Julian,one of our teacher started calling me 'script writer'.He asked me,"Are you writing any new script?". I wasn't sure if I was writing any so I replied,"Maybe for the youth festival". I don't know whether I have a golden tongue because two days later,my friend Alan consulted me to write a script for our house in the Youth Festival. "Hey man,I'm not a storehouse of scripts",I didn't say that but that's what my mind said.Anyway,somehow I managed to write a story in ten days.The story was about an orthodox father and his atheist son(damn yeah!).The title of the story was 'The Godspeeds'(the name was inspired by a character played by Nicholas Cage in the famous Micheal Bay film).The story in a nutshell:orthodox father-atheist son-father tries to make the son believe that Gods do exist(Gods or God,depending upon the mythology you follow :P ).The first actor to be casted for this o-a-p was Neeraj(my favourite actor in school + the only actor who have acted in all the o-a-ps I wrote).Shiyas(a senior student)was casted as the orthodox father.The casting was almost finished and only one role was remaining,the atheist son.I had no idea who was apt for playing the role of the atheist son.But Alan and Neeraj had a solution for that.Their solution was-"Vian Walter". To tell the truth,I didn't even know who that was,so I asked,"Vian? Who the hell is that? ". Alan told,"He's one of our seniors and he is a big ********* in our school".So Vian was casted for the role.But the real f*** up happened when we had no time to rehearse.So,all students from every houses decided on one thing,get a day free just for rehearsing.We successfully got the permission to rehearse(yeah! from the school authority).The question remains is that whether we rehearsed it or not.Stay tuned for Episode 5........

School Diaries(S01E03)

May, 2011: The breeze seemed to sauce up the passion of acting, I felt as though SKYFALL would happen….the burden of bringing the comic besides action, the o-a-p ‘The AIRPORT’, a massive-bumper lofty-ultimate, a magnificent HIT, finally was accepted by the teachers and was given accent by my friends. All was set for putting up a good session for practice. Everyone who was casted for the play was excited and prepared themselves to play their respective role. As we were the FRESHERS in the PLUS-TWO SECTION, much or more freedom and time was given for the practice. But unfortunately our practice turned down to a FLOP. Despite we were deficient in the formal practice; we had ever-lasting and many an evergreen bloom of talents built-in besides experience and courage. Significantly, we took up the challenge which our GREAT TIME SHADOW offered. Within a short span of time, the story went through many editing sessions during the practice itself and out of the rough and tough frames of scenes much comic-filled laughter was introduced by us. To conclude, the fun filled occasion was winded up with the discussion of the costumes and the RE-RECORDING section to be done on-stage itself; and each of the roles were well developed by many suggestions at final.

The sunshine was fascinatingly marvellous and the pressure, i.e., force exerted per unit area in our heart by the passion of enacting with utmost seriousness and perfection was increasing each a millisecond, or even can be said the sort of experience which is felt by a scientist when he demonstrates his invention in front of the common public and other subject experts. Even though we finalized many things about the o-a-p, it was not assured of appreciation and enjoyment by the audience, our teachers (including our PRINCIPAL, the HEAD of our institution) and our friends seated among our seniors. Unfortunately during this THEORETICAL APPLICATION DISCUSSION in our PRACTICAL, Fresherz Day Celebration was set out to prove and spread awareness about the UNSTOPPABLE FRESHER2011-13 BATCH, songs and other dance and other cultural ecstasies were blown out to be received by the audience. Meanwhile the tourist brotherz in our play, Balu.N.S. and Nandagopal were trying out new slangs and accents to be enacted, Ijas started to take a better intro and Balu P Nair and Ajmal,Neeraj besides Allen and Ashley(who is supposed to be a blind,also tried out many RhYtMFul MoVeMeNtZ as a comedy during this nick of time)were editing their conversation, also passengers(Tarun, Jesly, Athul Hussain,Ashley & Justin) brought out new ideas and practiced, and finally ME, one among the security officers( a prior lead) tried out SUPERSTAR RAJINI blend in JAMES BOND007 actions as a part of my intro……(after many combinations, which turned out to be a highlight), and at this time came the Intel of the o-a-p, Ram and party being called out at the auditorium…we in a hurly-burly, messed but confident, walked and proved our efficiency, Sebin,Ronald and Karthik, my colleagues in the play too brought out their way of speech and acting beautifully on-stage…..At last after completion of the enactment, many appreciated and told us the valuable EXTRA-ORDINARY ENTERTAINER….besides TEACHERS and by Fr.Silvie, that comic+action was a tough subject to be implemented along with the sound co-orination….We felt as though we were upon the clouds, filled with rejoicement and in a state of blissful joy and happiness, but when we returned to our classes, we came to know about the lack of understanding about our play by some of our friends, no probz it was, we explained it, and they proclaimed about the best fit and composition of the script and editing mainly done by Ashley…that was the end of the mess and fun that pertained to our FRESHERZ DAY and whats next???........is still a mystery to get through a continuation……….

School Diaries(S01E02)

     May,2011:      One week left for Fresher's day.All of us were eagerly waiting for it.But that is when Mrs.Dona told that our o-a-p has been cancelled because the story was containing too much mature content.The story concentrated more on violence,blood shed,killing,shooting with guns(all things you can imagine that gives a PG-13 rating).That was a total dumbshit moment when she told that.All our valuable work was soaked in rain.She asked us to do another skit(comedy instead of violence). I asked to myself,"Where the hell will I find a new story".Ijas,Ram,Neeraj and Ajmal had no idea what to do.We looked up many movies for inspirations but guess what,not every movies can be played on stage.The only idea left was to give up and move on as a normal student but what's the fun in that.Life is made up of challenges and if I can't manipulate my life,then who can? That is when Ajmal reminded me of "Just A Minute"( The first o-a-p written by me and due to some reasons it never got on stage ).Ajmal told me,"If we rewrite it again then we will get a great skit". "Tremendous idea Ajmal",said I. I started rewriting 'Just A minute'. After writing it,we added new students to the cast(retaining the older ones).No official title was given to it.So,we called it "Airport". The only question left is,"Will we able to play it on stage? "

School Diaries (S01E01) (A true story)

May,2011: Today is the day when I got admitted to eleventh grade in my school.I was studying in this school for the past six years but now,things have changed.New students started flocking into our school while the old students left the school.A few of my old friends like Ronald and KP(short for Krishna Prasad) were with me in the same class(finally KP became my best friend).I got new friends like Athul and Arjun from and suddenly my circle of friends increased with Ijas,Nandagopal and Ram(we were in the same class previous grades,but haven't talked to each other openly).One day Mrs.Dona(our English teacher and VP) asked me to write a one-act-play for 'Fresher's Day'(she knew my experience in writting one-act-plays).I wasn't interested in writting a one-act-play again,but Ijas and Ram insisted that I should write.So I took inspiration from the famous Tom Cruise movie,"A Few Good Men" and wrote a one-act-play and gave the title-"Code Red".Our next job was to cast actors for the o-a-p. After a long discussion about actors among students finally the cast for the o-a-p was:Ijas,Ram,Neeraj,Ajmal,Karthik,Balu,Nandagopal,Prem,Athul,Ronald and myself(all of us have previously acted in o-a-ps and Neeraj,Ajmal,Karthik,Nandagopal & Prem have worked with me before).We started rehearsals early so that we could precisely act on stage.We completed all our rehearsals and were ready for the play.Just one more week left for 'Fresher's Day'.And we were eagerly waiting for that.
